Even if I don’t much like either of the characters in this story, this short piece directed and written by Daniel Nocke is really well done.

The Tail

Shaggy and wild-eyed, he stopped her and her dog at the beach.

“Did ye hear of the shark that bit the dog’s tail?”

“…What…?”

“Aye, lass, it was a horror… just now.”

He leaned close to her ear and his voice dropped to gargling whisper, a smell of whiskey, tobacco and sweat.

“The shark… Aye, the shark!” He paused: “Therein lies the tale.”

This song was written as a part of one of Hall’s BBC 4 documentaries about the United States… Nashville, I think it was about. You can find at least 3 YouTube video’s based on this song. I think this is the best of the ones I’ve seen.
