Serious trench warfare in a tiny corner of the world. Is it something in the air, a miasma of fear, a mind-altering parasite, or a pheromone of aggression?

    1. The title or the image? The title is a portmanteau of “warfare” and “pheromone”. The image is of two neighboring ant communities in open warfare. Over what depends on the species involved, and I’m no better at insects than I am at botany. But with ants, you can be sure that pheromones are involved.

      1. Since the image is not moving :), it’s hard to tell whether that’s a battle, but I believe you!
